What Happens During the Appointment
Examination. The doctor looks inside both ears to confirm the blockage is wax — not infection, trapped water or a problem with the eardrum.
Softening if needed. Very hard wax may need softening drops first; sometimes a second short visit is better than forcing it.
Removal. Warm-water irrigation at controlled pressure flushes the wax out. The procedure takes about 20–30 minutes.
Check and aftercare. The ear is re-examined, and you get advice on keeping it dry and preventing build-up.
When Irrigation Is Not Suitable
