How we choose the right test for you

Timing since exposure determines the best test. When you contact us we ask: when did the possible exposure occur? — this lets our clinician recommend rapid screening, ELISA, or HIV RNA (PCR) for the earliest reliable result. If in doubt, we may combine tests for safety.

We offer both clinic visits and discreet hotel/villa sample collection across Bali.

Turnaround times (typical)

Rapid test

Immediate (15–30 minutes)

ELISA / 4th-gen

24–48 hours

HIV RNA / PCR

5–7 days (lab dependent)

Common patient scenarios (practical advice)

Recent exposure (within 2 weeks)

Consider HIV RNA (PCR) for earlier detection; rapid/ELISA may be negative this soon. Our doctor can advise and arrange PCR if indicated.

Exposure 3–6 weeks ago

A 4th-generation ELISA or Duo test is usually reliable. We may still recommend a follow-up test at 12 weeks for full reassurance.

Routine check with no recent risk

Rapid or ELISA testing is appropriate. Many travellers choose ELISA for better sensitivity.

Privacy & anonymity

Dewa Medical provides anonymous testing for tourists and expats — no passport required. Results are delivered privately (secure message or in-person consultation). We prioritize confidentiality and discreet villa visits.

Useful quick FAQ (short answers)

Can HIV be detected immediately after exposure?
Not always. HIV RNA (PCR) can detect infection earlier (from ~7–10 days). Antibody/ELISA tests require a longer window (weeks).
Do you provide confirmation and treatment if positive?
Yes — we arrange confirmatory testing, confidential counselling and a treatment plan or referral to specialists.
Are tests accurate?
Yes — ELISA and PCR tests used by our partner labs meet international standards. We use confirmatory protocols for reactive results.
